Wi-Fi QR code questions
How does a Wi-Fi QR code work?
The code encodes your network name (SSID), password, and security type in the standard WIFI: format. When a phone camera scans it, the OS offers to join the network directly — the password is filled in automatically.
Is it safe to put my Wi-Fi password in a QR code?
The password travels inside the code itself, so treat the printed code like you would the password written on a card: anyone who scans it can join. Guests networks and cafe codes are the classic use; for a home network, only share it with people you trust.
Why does my phone not offer to join after scanning?
iOS and Android both support the WIFI: format natively, but the camera app sometimes shows it as plain text first — tap the notification or open it in the camera app. Very old phones may need any free QR scanner app.
